Where It All Began – Jersey, 1968

In 1968, inside Jersey’s historic Central Market, our founders pioneered the idea of sending flowers by post. Holidaymakers visiting the island fell in love with the vibrant carnations and freesias on display and wanted to share them with loved ones back home. By carefully packing and posting fresh blooms, Jersey Flowers created a service that quickly blossomed into a nationwide favourite.

From those first bunches of carnations, the seeds of flowersbypost.com were sown.


From Market Stall to Online Flower Delivery

As tourism thrived in Jersey after World War II, so did demand for our flowers. By the 1990s, we embraced the digital age and launched one of the UK’s first online flower delivery websites.

This meant customers could:

  • Choose from a wider range of flowers including roses, lilies, and orchids

  • Schedule deliveries for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions

  • Enjoy the same freshness and care as if they’d bought directly from our stall

Today, our online shop delivers fresh flowers across the UK with free delivery, while still staying true to our Jersey roots.


Still Blooming in Jersey’s Central Market

More than 50 years later, our original stall remains in St Helier’s Central Market, now run by a former flowersbypost team member. It continues to delight locals and tourists alike with the same fragrant freesias and colourful carnations that started it all.

We’re proud to maintain this connection — a living reminder of where our story began.
